MPPFC Partners with Kohl’s for Community Events
The Martin-Pitt Partnership for Children is excited to announce that it has partnered with the local Kohl’s store in Greenville, NC to present several events this year, including Touch A Truck, a free book giveaway, and a health screening clinic.
In September, Kohl’s participated in an early literacy program with MPPFC’s Early Literacy Coordinator Angela Sawyer by donating books to be given away during Ms. Angela’s weekly Pre-K Story Time. Kohl’s associate Ms. Penny attended the event not only to participate in the book giveaway, but also to read a story to the children. The event was a huge success with more than 30 books distributed to local children. Kohl’s donated more books than the event was able to distribute, so Ms. Angela will be holding addition book giveaway events in the coming months.
In addition to Story Time, Kohl’s stepped up as an incredible sponsor for Touch A Truck, MPPFC’s inaugural event focusing on the hands-on experience of encouraging local children to get up close and personal with the vehicles and machinery that makes our community work. Kohl’s is also a sponsor for MPPFC’s upcoming health screening day. Research has shown that children in the community have difficulties accessing simple health procedures such as vision and auditory screenings, or that parents are simply unaware of the need for the screenings. To assist in assuring that all children are able to receive the care that they need in these areas, the Partnership has teamed up with Vidant Health and My Eye Doctor in Greenville to offer a free community health screening day in November.
The Martin-Pitt Partnership for Children is so thankful for the support we receive from the local community, and especially our local Kohl’s store. Please help us support them as they continually support us.
